One insider noted, “A film crew went to Southport to have a chat with Alan about his years playing at Anfield. He was a very welcoming host and showed the crew around his house so they could choose a suitable area to film.
“They opted for the living room with Alan standing in front of the fire leaning on his mantlepiece. He asked if he should put the fire on to make it look more homely and the producer agreed it was a good idea.
"They never expected a request for a top-up fee for his domestic expenses."
The ex-Liverpool star then gloated in the crew’s horror trip back following filming. The source added, "As they were leaving Alan was taking great pleasure in telling them there was congestion on the M6."
