English Football - The Case of the Missing Goalkeeper

In an English local league match in the 1990's, the weather was so foggy that the referee was forced to abandon the game. 

The players left the pitch and went to their respective changing rooms to get changed. Almost half an hour later, one of the players noticed that their goalkeeper was nowhere to be seen! On going out onto the pitch to look for him, they found him still in his goalmouth, guarding his goal. 

Lost in the fog, the poor goalkeeper had stayed rooted to his position for nearly half an hour, presuming that his team was playing so well that all the play had been down the other end of the pitch!
