Asian Football - Sumo Soccer Star
Asashoryu, the bad boy of sumo wrestling, was banned from taking part in two tournaments after he was caught on film playing football in his native Mongolia while supposedly recovering from injuries sustained in the ring.
It was the first time in the sport's 2,000-year history that a yokozuna - grand champion - has been banned from a tournament.
Asashoryu was allowed to miss an 18-day regional tour on the basis of injury but was then seen on Japanese TV haring around the pitch during a charity football match in Mongolia arranged by former Japan star Hidetoshi Nakata.
It wasn’t all bad news for the Sumo star though, as he netted from a Nakata pass!
